Born in 1958 in Germany, Jost undertook studies in Social Pedagogics before arriving in Australia in 1981. After many years working in the field of youth drug and alcohol counseling, he completed a Bachelor of Health Science in Acupuncture, an Associate Diploma in Oriental Massage and certification in Sports Injury Management, Structural Balancing and Deep Tissue Massage. He has also studied Rolfing, Reiki and Body Harmony. Jost has been a practising therapist since 1991 and lectured in Traditional Chinese Medicine for a decade in Australia. He is deeply committed to health and healing on and lives in accord with the natural laws by living in accord with the 24 hour chi cycle of traditional Chinese medicine and doing a daily practice of stretching, meditation, exercise and chi-work.
Jost has operated several health care centres and also worked privately as a therapist in the USA, Malaysia and Australia, successfully treating thousands of clients. Jost has a high public profile as workshop presenter and guest speaker at festivals, conferences and educational institutions, but he also participates regularly in talkback radio shows, magazines and newspapers as well as being a regular contributor to Living Now magazine.
As an ex-speed addict, who has been happily drug-free for over twenty years now through his own holistic program, his initial area of research and specialisation was the impact of recreational drug use on the body, mind and spirit. Through his related workshops, DVDs and book, Higher & Higher, and by training therapists in his unique PDH program, he has enabled thousands of people to understand their own drug experiences and use them as an evolutionary tool.
After several years working in this area Jost found himself treating more and more people who had not used recreational drugs but were dependant on prescription medications and often had symptoms as serious as those of recreational drug-users. If they stopped the medications all their underlying initial problems simply reappeared. Jost had to look at the cause of the underlying problem not the side effects of the medication, and the cause of most problems is the fact that people don’t know how to live anymore. This led to his new area of specialisation – the art of living for the 21st century.
Jost believes that as humans we are capable of change and it is our responsibility to do so.
