When you’re off your face on drugs or alcohol – you say ‘yes, of course!’ to absolutely everything from shopping trolley races to public speaking, it’s a growth mindset, a trait needed for success. But when people quit they fall into the fixed mindset of labels: ‘I’m a loser, I’m a disappointment, I’m an addict, I’m powerless’. There is no movement, only pain. The fixed mind-set is the cause of depression. We are not supposed to be fixed and mundane, it is against our nature. We are cosmic beings with infinite potential for growth. So replace the post-addiction fixed mindset immediately with movement. Pursue physical, emotional and spiritual growth, say ‘yes, of course!’ again to everything life offers. This makes us happy.
