Scientists have recently discovered that there is a definite link between having strong legs and a brain that resists the effects of ageing. According to an article in a gerontology journal, building leg power will prevent age-related changes in mental function more than any other life-style factor. Of course Tai-chi Masters have known this for thousands of years, postures such as horse stance really burn in the thighs, and in yoga too many postures such as warrior poses work the legs hard. So now we have Eastern proof and Western scientific proof – get into some squats asap and keep that brain function healthy so that as you age you get smarter and fitter, not weaker and more unhealthy.
