This pattern is affiliated with ulcerative colitis, a chronic inflammatory disorder of the colonic mucosa and is caused by overconsumption of hot (this is an energetic quality not food temperature) and greasy foods, or chronic sadness and anxiety. If these causes are combined, the pattern is worse. These factors cause dampness in the large intestine which prevents it from absorbing fluids and excreting stools resulting in diarrhoea and mucus in stool. The heat makes blood come out of the large intestine’s blood vessels.
Symptoms:
Abdominal pain, diarrhoea, mucus and blood in stools, strong odour of stools, burning in the anus, scanty dark urine, fever, sweating, thirst with no desire to drink, feeling of heaviness of the body and limbs, stuffiness in the chest.
