This pattern is affiliated with the Western diseases of depression, sexually transmitted diseases, yeast infection, urinary dysfunction and is characterised by urinary and sexual manifestations. The kidneys can’t provide enough chi to the bladder causing incontinence, frequent urination, weak-stream urination and dribbling after urination. The chi is too weak to hold sperm or vaginal secretion causing spermatorrhoea, premature ejaculation and nocturnal emissions (without dreams) and vaginal discharge. In terms of lifestyle factors, drug abuse especially the stimulants such as crystal meth and cocaine, are contributors. Having lots of children close together without nourishing the blood and life-force (jing) can also develop kidney chi not firm in women. This pattern can develop into kidney yang deficiency.
Symptoms:
Soreness and weakness of the lumbar region and knee joints, clear frequent urination, weak-stream urination, dribbling after urination, urinary incontinence, urination at night, nocturnal emissions (without dreams), premature ejaculation, chronic vaginal discharge, a dragging-down feeling in the lower abdomen and recurrent miscarriage.
