The difference between fate and destiny

by Jost Sauer

Fate and destiny are not the same

Fate is the direction our life takes without any effort on our behalf. Fate is defined as the expected result of normal development. Destiny on the other hand is our potential waiting to happen and the ancient Chinese sages made ‘nourishing destiny’ an important branch of medicine. Nourishing destiny ignites what they call Heavenly Fire, a substance given to us at birth and responsible for regulating our emotional, mental and physical health, and for ensuring that cosmic plan unfolds as it should.

Heavenly Fire is like a guidance system: this is why it feels good when your life is unfolding as it should be, when you are nourishing your destiny and following the cosmic plan, and why it feels frustrating when you hand yourself over to fate and lets others control you.

Resist fate nourish destiny

Fate is mundane, and anything mundane dampens the Heavenly Fire. In Chinese medicine Heavenly Fire (Shen) is the substance that enables us to sense our purpose, but also to feel confidence. If it declines depression and anxiety will arise. Nourishing destiny feeds the Heavenly Fire. If we work hard, navigate our way through endless obstacles and set-backs, keep pushing forward to what we know feels right, we feel good about life.

Heavenly fire and happiness

Heavenly Fire makes us stronger, happier and healthier. As a registered practitioner of Chinese medicine with almost 30 years experience, ’nourishing destiny’ is the main treatment protocol I go by – Heavenly Fire resolves most physical and emotional symptoms ‘miraculously and mystically’: symptoms disappear, never to be seen or felt again. Heavenly Fire also slows down the ageing process. Instead of getting older we develop youthfulness.

Resisting fate and nourishing destiny is the key to a fulfilling happy life. Here are eight tip to getting out of the fate rut and nourishing destiny

  1. Embrace change, it is essential, change is the only constant
  2. The ability to change is within us
  3. Building Chi will naturally instigate change: we become proactive
  4. Cosmic Chi nurtures our organs: we feel love and belonging
  5. Our organs release destiny information: we know what we want
  6. Spontaneous connections arise: life becomes mystical
  7. We know we can do it: we feel inspired and we keep building chi
  8. We cosmicize our life
