Ascension symptoms: what’s really happening to your body (and what to do about it)

Something is happening — and your body knows it before your mind does

If you’ve been feeling weird lately — tired but wired, emotional but numb, excited but anxious — you’re not imagining things,  and you’re not alone.

These unexplained symptoms are what the spiritual community calls “ascension symptoms” and can be signs that something real is changing in your body. Your system is responding to forces that are measurable, documented, and intensifying.

I’ve been working with people seeking transformation for decades and what I’m seeing in clients right now is unlike anything I’ve seen before. It’s intense, but there’s a biological explanation for it and practical things you can do about it.

Why now? The cosmic pressure cooker

To understand ascension symptoms, you need to understand what’s acting on you. Right now, we’re experiencing a convergence of forces that is unprecedented in recorded human history:

Solar flares have gone through the roof

In 2019, there was 1 major solar flare. In 2024, there were 54, a record high since tracking began in 1976. These solar flares blast photons — particles of light and energy — towards Earth, and they impact directly on your biology.

The Schumann resonance is spiking

The Earth’s electromagnetic heartbeat (discovered in 1952) normally sits at 7.83 Hz. In recent years, we’ve seen spikes 20% higher than anything previously recorded and in 2024, measurements went far beyond what we’ve ever seen.

We’re at a 26,000-year turning point

The equinox cycle, a slow wobble of the Earth’s axis, is completing its full rotation. We’re leaving the Age of Pisces and entering the Age of Aquarius. This is astronomical fact, and it has implications for our energy field.

When you add all of this up — the equinox shift, Schumann spikes, record-breaking solar flares, and galactic energies — the combined energetic pressure acting on us right now is unlike anything in recent human history. That’s why you’re feeling what you’re feeling.

What ascension symptoms actually are

Your body contains crystalline structures in your fascia, your cells, your bones, and your DNA. These structures receive, store, and transmit frequencies. They’re your biological hardware.

When the cosmic forces intensify (which they are, dramatically), these crystalline structures get activated. When the incoming energy flows smoothly through your system, you feel expanded, intuitive, alive. When it doesn’t flow smoothly because of blockages, stress, old patterns, or simply because the upgrade is happening faster than your body can integrate, you experience the effects.

This is documented in numerous research papers showing how solar flares affect human psychology, causing agitation, headaches behind the eyes, extreme tiredness or sudden bursts of intuitive understanding. This isn’t fringe speculation, it’s now measurable science.

Physical ascension symptoms

Soul fatigue

This is different from regular tiredness. It’s a bone-deep exhaustion that doesn’t respond to sleep or coffee. Your bones feel heavy. That’s because the hydroxyapatite crystals in your bone marrow are being activated and calling for attention.

What’s happening is that your vital force, ‘Jing’ as it’s called in Taoist internal alchemy, is recalibrating to hold more light. While it does this it’s not providing the usual energy for day-to-day life, and you suddenly feel this bone-tired ache.

A main marker is a loss of joy. You struggle to remain anchored in a world that’s out of sync with your resonance. You feel numb, foggy, unmotivated. This is the most common thing I see in clients right now.

Sleep disruption

Either sleeping far more than usual or experiencing insomnia despite exhaustion. Vivid, intense dreams. Waking at specific times, often between 1–4am. Your system is processing and integrating cosmic downloads during sleep and sometimes the volume is turned up so high it wakes you.

Digestive shifts

Changes in appetite, food intolerances developing or disappearing, sudden aversions to foods you used to enjoy. Your body is becoming more selective about what frequencies it will accept. If a food makes you heavy, your system doesn’t want it anymore, so try some lighter foods and keep adapting as things change.

Pressure in your chakras

Feeling pressure at the crown or the point between the eyebrows. These are energy centres opening and expanding to hold higher frequencies.

Temperature fluctuations

Random hot flashes or cold spells unrelated to room temperature or other causes. Night sweats. Your energy body is recalibrating, and your thermostat is adjusting.

Heightened sensitivity

Increased sensitivity to light, sound, crowds, certain people, electromagnetic fields. Your antenna, your crystalline body, is becoming more sensitive as it upgrades. What you used to either not notice or just tolerate now feels overwhelming.

Emotional ascension symptoms

Overwhelm

Feeling flooded by emotions, yours and those from people around you. Difficulty being in crowds or around emotionally reactive people. You’re becoming more empathic as your consciousness expands, but without the skills to manage it, the input is too much.

Identity dissolving

“I don’t know who I am anymore.” Old interests falling away. Relationships that once worked feeling incompatible. Jobs that were fine for years suddenly becoming intolerable. Your ego identity — your 3D self — is dissolving to make room for your soul identity.

The emotional rollercoaster

One minute you feel crystal-clear insight about your purpose. The next minute you’re questioning everything and waves of fear or doubt crash in. This back-and-forth is normal, you’re oscillating between 3D and 5D consciousness, and the junction point is bumpy.

Magnified emotions

Any emotion you’re feeling right now will be magnified. The light photon blasts amplify whatever frequency you’re holding. If you’re holding peace, it becomes bliss. If you’re holding anger, it intensifies. This is why emotional awareness is more important now than ever.

The craving for solitude

A strong need to be alone, to disconnect from noise and stimulation, to retreat from social demands. Intolerance for small talk, it aggravates you and triggers a desire to escape. This is your system seeking space to integrate the upgrades happening inside you.

Spiritual ascension symptoms

Vivid, meaningful dreams

Dreams that feel more real than waking life. Dreams with clear messages, guidance, or teaching. Dreams where you’re in other dimensions or timelines. This is very profound with a lot of clients I work with along with heightened intuition, suddenly seeing things, and experiencing synchronicities.

Synchronicities multiplying

Meaningful coincidences everywhere. Seeing repeated numbers (11:11, 2:22). Meeting the right person at exactly the right time. Finding information you need the moment you need it. These are classic markers of theta brain wave states and indications that your consciousness is shifting.

Sudden downloads

Sudden knowing. Information appearing in your mind that you didn’t consciously learn. Insights about how things work, what you’re meant to do, how to solve problems. This is cosmic intelligence coming online.

Time distortions

Time speeding up or slowing down. Hours passing in what feels like minutes. Experiencing “timeless” states. The old rhythm of reality doesn’t feel stable anymore because the linear time construct of 3D consciousness is loosening.

Loss of interest in 3D drama

What used to trigger you — politics, gossip, conflict, news — now feels irrelevant or exhausting. You can’t engage with it the same way. Your consciousness has shifted to a frequency where 3D drama no longer resonates.

Sudden pattern shifts

I see this daily in sessions. People who have smoked for years, and from one day to the next, don’t smoke anymore. People who drank wine every evening, and suddenly the next day don’t want it. Some people can’t eat meat anymore. These patterns shift suddenly, that’s the activation at work.

Why you feel worse while upgrading

This is what confuses people. “I’m supposed to be ascending. I’m doing the practices. Why do I feel weird or off?”

The answer: you’re changing operating systems while still trying to run your old software.

Imagine upgrading your computer from one OS to another. During the transition, nothing works right. Old programs don’t run. Files are in the wrong format. Everything’s slow and glitchy. But once the upgrade completes, you have access to capabilities you never had before.

That’s what’s happening in your body-consciousness system.

If you ignore the activation, if energy or chi can’t flow, the incoming energy can backfire and you may feel angry, judge everyone or see separation everywhere. The pressure that was meant to upgrade you has the opposite effect.

The two paths: embrace or resist

You’ve got a choice about how to respond to what’s happening.

Path 1: Work with the activation

You use practice such as qi gong, tai chi or yoga to work with compression and stretching to activate your fascia and create coherence in your cells all of which entrains your DNA to higher frequencies.

When you do this, fatigue becomes energised presence. Emotional overwhelm becomes refined sensitivity. Confusion becomes clarity. Physical discomfort becomes aliveness.

Path 2: Resist the activation

The energy has nowhere to go, so it stagnates. You experience the effects of your system fighting the upgrade. You descend further into separation, reactivity, and fear. The same forces that can elevate you can also make everything harder.

The cosmic forces are acting on you whether you invited them to or not!

What to do: practical strategies that actually work

This is where I differ from most of what you’ll read about ascension symptoms. I don’t think crystals on your nightstand or positive affirmations are going to cut it. What’s happening is biological, and the response needs to be biological.

The 90-second karma timer

When you feel triggered — with or without an obvious cause — emotions will pass through you in 90 seconds if you don’t engage with them. This is backed by psychology research.

Set up a 90-second timer on your phone. The second you feel yourself triggered, hit the button, be still, breathe. Let the aggro pass through you instead of becoming you. You’ve saved yourself needless stress, avoided creating karma by not lashing out, and taken everyone 90 seconds closer to peace.

How to set it up (iPhone):

  1. Open the Shortcuts app
  2. Tap “+” to create a new shortcut
  3. Search for “Start Timer” and add that action
  4. Set the duration to 1 minute 30 seconds
  5. Tap “Done” and rename it “Karma Timer”
  6. Add it to your Home Screen for one-tap access

Move your body — specifically

You can’t tell someone who is angry “don’t be angry, don’t be annoyed”? That kind of advice never works, but if I take that angry person into a chi gong posture, like ‘holding the tree’ for 20 minutes, they’re not annoyed anymore.

This works because specific chi flow movements of intentional stretching, compression, and spiral motion generate electrical charges. This puts pressure on crystalline structures in the body, and when you put pressure on a crystal energy emanates. This literally shifts your frequency.

Tai Chi, chi gong, yoga, martial arts — these aren’t just exercise, they’re activation technologies. Even a “mindful march” — vigorous marching on the spot, knees up and arms up — breaks patterns, gets free-flow going, and shifts states.

The reset: distance and practice

When you notice your frequency dropping, you need two things:

Distance — physical or energetic separation from the trigger. Leave the room. End the conversation. Take a walk. Without distance, you can’t process effectively because distance allows you to have stillness and observation.

Practice — a physical reset. Even when you’re driving, pull over. Do your practice. I have never in all my years seen it not transform a negative state into a positive state. The moment I do Tai Chi, a wall appears around me. And in that moment I can’t sense 3D.

Square breathing for instant coherence

This creates immediate coherence between heart, brain, and nervous system:

  1. Inhale for 4 counts
  2. Hold for 4 counts
  3. Exhale for 4 counts
  4. Hold empty for 4 counts
  5. Repeat for 5–10 minutes

This shifts you from beta brain waves (3D reactive thinking) to alpha/theta (5D receptivity) and activates your parasympathetic nervous system. You can do this anywhere, anytime.

Avoid the three traps

Hate following — consuming media about people you dislike. It’s a mix of disgust, fascination, and compulsion. The old world is being dismantled. Not much point getting annoyed about people from the “old.”

The “What If” trap — “What if I lose my job, what if everything falls apart…?” We’re in new territory. Permanence is a thing of the past. Anchor yourself in “What Is” through practice, not speculation.

Unprocessed grief — if you’re affected by loss of what you used to rely on, acknowledge it. Grief is affiliated with the Metal phase of change in Taoist philosophy — it’s the alchemical function of dissolution, releasing and refining the old. Practice the Dissolution Breath: inhale through nose for 4, hold 4, exhale through mouth for 8 with a soft “haaa.” Repeat whenever grief arises. This enables new energies to come in.

Support your biology

During intense activation periods (solar flares, planetary alignments, full moons, personal crises), your crystalline structures need support. If tissue is oxidised, crystals can’t communicate with each other. Get professional advice on key supplements.

And pay attention to diet: observe how food makes you feel. If it makes you heavy, eat less of it. If it makes you light, it’s good for you. You’re constantly moving towards the lighter. If you get too ungrounded, add a bit of what makes you heavy. Forwards, backwards — it’s a process.

The morning practice that changes everything

If you do nothing else, start your day with some sort of chi practice between 5–7am. This is when Earth element energy is strongest and cosmic chi can be grounded into your body most effectively.

When you wake up, don’t grab your phone. Don’t rush into thought. Sit on the edge of your bed, feet flat on the floor. Three deep breaths. Then breathwork for 10–15 minutes, followed by standing chi gong for 20–30 minutes.

Standing pole (Zhan Zhuang) is the single most powerful practice for working with ascension symptoms. It activates your piezoelectric fascia through sustained compression, creates coherence in your cells, stimulates the bone marrow to brain connection, and builds your capacity to hold cosmic frequencies. After 20 minutes, a complete energetic reset occurs. An energetic field forms around you automatically — you don’t have to visualise or intend it.

The first 5 minutes will be uncomfortable. By 10 minutes your body stabilises. By 15 minutes energy starts flowing. By 20 minutes you enter an altered state. That’s the upgrade integrating.

Your symptoms are signs you’re doing it right

In the Ascension sphere discomfort is a sign that something’s changing. Your crystalline body is receiving an unprecedented influx of high-frequency light energy, and it’s triggering an upgrade. You’re being activated whether you’re conscious of it or not.

Every time you catch yourself in a low-frequency state and consciously return to practice, you’re strengthening the pathway to 5D consciousness. Eventually, the higher state becomes your baseline rather than your peak experience.

And it looks like the cosmic forces aren’t going to ease up, they’re going to intensify! We all have a choice now to either resist the transformation or work with it and fulfil personal and planetary destiny.

Can I speed up the ascension process?

Consistent daily practice accelerates integration and reduces effects. The essentials are: 20 minutes of standing chi gong or tai chi every morning, conscious breathing throughout the day, and 15 minutes of heart-opening practice in the evening (7–9pm, when the pericardium meridian is most active). Supporting your biology with antioxidant supplements (get professional advice), clean diet, and adequate rest also helps. The transformation can’t be absorbed through thinking alone it requires biological activation through embodiment practices.

Why am I suddenly losing interest in things I used to enjoy?

This is one of the most common and disorienting ascension effects. It happens because your frequency is shifting, and activities, relationships, or habits that matched your old frequency no longer resonate. It’s not that something is wrong with you, it’s that your system is recalibrating to a new baseline. Allow the old to fall away without forcing replacements. New interests, connections, and purposes that match your emerging frequency will appear, often through synchronicity rather than effort.
